For a fun 1st birthday party for a special little boy, I incorporated his favorite character Elmo with a fun Western theme. The fun part was decorating this backyard-BBQ party to give it a western feel.We got the hay bales from a local feed store to provide a seating area. The inflatable cactus and fire-pit were from Oriental Trading Co. The centerpieces on the tables had red bandanas with a cowboy boot on top filled with sunflowers. Strands of fall leaves were also draped around the gazebo.
A BBQ in the backyard included: ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, taco salad, and chips and salsa.We also had chicken nuggets for the kids.
Entertainment:
Pony Rides and Petting Zoo were a big hit among the kids at this party... and really fun for the adults too.
The cake was perfect for this Elmo Western party. It was decorated with a fondant bandana print on the top layer and cowprint on the bottom layer. The belt buckle, elmo and horse were also made from fondant.
